Is it wrong to copy jokes?

Aubrey Tirri: Jokes are meant to be retold. When you tell a joke, nobody expects that you made it up yourself.

Donovan Stallons: DON"T, you have to be original. for gods sake be original!

Buster Buchko: It's perfectly fine as long as you don't try to take credit for creating the joke.

Jeff Frizzell: Knock knock...whos there. Results. Results for who.You are the father.

Lionel Tanen: Hell, that's how Denis Leary made his whole stand up career. By copying Bill Hicks' material.

Tyler Burkman: Use your own jokes. They are way better because you made them

Ronny Nowzari: It's okay but yeah like the one person said just don't take credit.

Donte Hamme: I hate it when people do that and don't give the originator credit...it's so cheap and dirty to me. I can almost always tell when someone is doing that and I'll usually call them on it and say something like "oh, where'd you hear that?" so they'll be forced to admit they're not clever lol.! I guess amongst the unfunny or mildly funny that is acceptable, but amongst the funny it is a big no-no.
