At the beginning of the Television broadcasting around 1920/30 how did they record the audio? + added?

If they wanted to prerecord sound for use in live TV they would have used the technology of the time; records or perhaps wire recorders Prior to the development of tape recorders (Germany early 1940s), there were machines that recorded sound magnetically on rolls of steel wire. When they started recording stuff on film for later broadcast (probably in the late 1940s), I imagine they would have done it the same way they did for movie theaters; have the sound modulate a strip on the film to make an optical sound recording and then use a photocell to read the sound information during playback....Show more
