Rayford Latz: Malcolm X, at 20 was sent to prison for 7 years for his involvement in the underground crime circuit. He was basically a career criminal. While in prison, he joined the Nation of Islam. When he got out of prison, he became the chief spokesman for the Nation of Islam where he remained active for a dozen or so years until he and the head honcho had a falling out and he defected. He was assasinated about a year later.
