How much do fashion designers earn?

Ha Wolski: That's a tricky question. It all depends. Some designers BARELY earn around $12,00 - $15,000 per year. Meanwhile you have people like Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Phillip Lim that earn WAY more than that. Basically, the fashion industry is really tough. How many famous designers do you know about? It might seem like a lot but when you compare that number to how many UNKNOWN/POOR designers are out there you realize that it's tough to earn a good income. There's a lot of competition out there, really especially in the fashion industry as it's always changing. You need to be creative, fashionable, and never run out of ideas that'll appeal to people if you want a good income being a designer. The chance of that is like 1 in a billion though lol. However, if you fight for it you might achieve it :).Anyway, well known designers usually make around 200,000 per year.
