Clare Hoard: Are you attending your IEP committee meetings? You should already be doing this. The (at least) annual meetings are where decisions about your education were planned by your parents, teachers, and the school administr! ation. Ask your parents why you were placed in the 'same classroom all day long'. They and the school had to agree with each other for your IEP plan to be developed. Ask to see a copy of your most recent IEP document. Get them to explain stuff in the document if you do not understand it. If you do not like the explanation, ask if an IEP meeting can be called to talk with everybody about potentially changing the plan. Assessment of a disability would depend on professional standards. Underage students would not have weight to self-sign themselves out of receiving special education services.
